8th ANNUAL CAPAY CRUSH FESTIVAL CELEBRATES LOCAL WINE AND FOOD
Event benefits the Kathleen Barsotti Non-Profit for Sustainable Agriculture;
Wine Tasting, Live Music, Grape Stomping, Harvest Activity
The event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 23808 State Hwy 16 in Capay with a full slate of activities for all ages, including live music from James Murray and The Golden Cadillacs, wine tasting, local food, and grape stomping. Attendees are invited to camp overnight in the farm’s fig and mandarin orchards.
Event proceeds will benefit The Kathleen Barsotti Non-Profit for Sustainable Agriculture (KBNP), which gives an annual college scholarship to a high school senior pursuing a field related to sustainable agriculture. KBNP also donates school supplies to farmworker families in the Capay Valley. This year, KBNP distributed over 1,000 backpacks full of school supplies to local students.
A wine tasting will showcase the region’s best vintages from area wineries including Berryessa Gap, Capay Valley Vineyards, Matchbook, Seka Hills and Sundstrom Hill.
Tacos 911 will dish up authentic Mexican cuisine, and the Cali Love Food Truck and Farmland Street will cook up entrees made with local, natural ingredients. Pachamama Coffee Cooperative will offer iced coffees and cold brews. Luciano’s Scoop will serve delicious gelato. Roasted, elote corn will also be on sale. There will be a farm stand selling organic farm produce and specialty products. Guests are also encouraged to bring their own picnics.
One of the highlights of Capay Crush is on many people’s “bucket list” ? grape stomping. Guests can step into a vat of grapes and stomp to their heart’s delight until their feet are purple. Visitors can also ride the farm’s tractor tram, take part in grape-themed activities and crafts, and take a self-guided walking tour of Capay Organic.
The Food Literacy Center will staff the herb salt station. The Esparto 4-H will staff a free petting zoo. There will be a kids’ bounce house & fun zone (wristbands available for $10).
Tickets are on sale now online through Sept. 22 for $20 per person (children ages 12 and under are free) or 4 tickets for $70. Tickets will be sold at the farm for $25 per person.
